Vince was born on July 9, 1945, to the late Mildred and Ralph Ackerman in Crawfordsville, IN. He is survived Mary Ackerman, his wife whom he married on July 1, 1967; son, Robbie (Tricia) Ackerman of Pacific City, OR; daughter, Tara (Craig) Webb of Grand Rapids, MI; grandsons, Kyle and Ryan Webb of Grand Rapids; brother, Denny (Sandy) Ackerman of Peoria, IL; sister, Phyllis Ackerman of Peoria, IL; brother-in-law, John (Lynn) Brown of Arlington Heights, IL; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews around the country.

Vince graduated a year before his high school sweetheart from Peoria Central High School in 1963. He furthered his education at Bradley University and later graduated with his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at Palmer Chiropractic College in October 1968. He and his new bride ventured to Southwest Michigan and fell in love with Lake Michigan.
Vince first practiced in Berrien Springs, MI with his beloved mentor, Dr. Homer Shoop. He later opened his own practice, Ackerman Chiropractic Center, where he proudly served his community for over fifty years.

Vince’s favorite past-times were boating on Lake Michigan, driving his corvette in the 1980’s, watching NASCAR, spending time with his life group from Blue Roof Church, socializing with his wide circle of friends, who he loved dearly. He was an avid sports fan, whether the Fighting Illini, Bad News Bears, Lakeshore Lancers where his two children played (he never missed a game) or rooting on his grandsons, Kyle & Ryan which were his pride and joy, from the sidelines in Grand Rapids. Vince always looked forward to heading out west to Oregon and Mt. Hood. He treasured his yearly trip up to Mackinac Island with his wife Mary, as that began in 1967 on their honeymoon, and they have created so many cherished memories.

The family would like to thank the beloved community for all of the support and the healthcare workers for the tremendous care Vince has received over the years. He will be deeply missed.
