Doug's Obituary
The world lost a one of kind human being when Douglas Lee Ingle left his earthly body after a 10-year struggle with dementia. He was surrounded by family and friends at home.
Douglas Lee Ingle was born to Charles “Ed” Ingle and Otha “Kate” Ingle, March 23, 1948 in Nappanee, IN. His family later moved to Benton Harbor, MI. During the mid-60’s he and four of his still dear friends created a popular local band called The Wanderin’ Kind. Doug was multitalented in music, theater, and art, with the ability to do anything he set his hands to. He graduated from Benton Harbor HS in 1966 and later from Western Michigan University in 1970 with a BA in Art Education, but later he became accomplished in photography. Doug was a kind, gifted, and gentle man that eventually went into a career with Whirlpool that lasted for 38 years as the Senior Photographer. Doug married the love of his life, Sherri Donoho Ingle in 1969. Together they built an amazingly beautiful legacy of love that they shared with their two children, Josh and Morgan, as well as their large extended family that included many friends that were like family. He has had an amazing group of lifelong friends that continue to support and love him. Doug’s intelligence and wry, offbeat sense of humor was magnetic for many who knew him. He loved to travel the world with his wife and close friends, they went to so many amazing locations throughout the years. He adored his “band of brothers - The Mystic Racoons of the Sea” or the “fat boy football” Monday nights. Doug often enjoyed playing his guitar, singing, and traveling to pawnshops in search of rare instruments. Doug was a real-life renaissance man with so much passion and charisma.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Ingle; his mother, Otha Goshorn Ingle; his brother, Larry Ingle; his sister, Jeanne Ingle Hollar and his lifelong friend, Doug Reybuck. He leaves behind his loving wife, Sharon Donoho Ingle; his son, Josh Ingle (Angie); his daughter, Morgan Ingle (Dirk Sorrells); grandchildren, Noah Sorrells, Cole Ingle, Leah Ingle, Willis Ingle-Sorrells, Josh Ingle Jr., K.J. Ingle, and Ellie Ingle and brother, Chuck Ingle (Sally). He also leaves a host of many dear family and friends that will cherish the memories they have of Doug and his “dougisms “. Doug was a gem of a human being, he will be loved and missed forever. To have known him, was to love him. ❤️
