Dorothy Louise Hora, 98, of St. Joseph, passed away, Monday, June 24, 2024 at Pine Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Stevensville.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday July 10, 2024 at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 12:00pm until 1:00pm. Memorial donations in Dorothy’s name may be made to the St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center. Dorothy was born June 13, 1926 in St. Joseph to Frank & Ida (Hasse) Pooch. She graduated from Stevensville High School, Class of 1944. On September 11, 1948, she married Walter Hora in St. Joseph. Dorothy was employed for many years at Lakeshore Junior High School as the lunch-room cashier. Later she gained employment at Leco Corp., retiring in 1993. Dorothy enjoyed the time spent at the St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center with her many friends, and enjoyed the beauty achieved with her work in her flower gardens. Dorothy was a long-time member of Zion United Church of Christ in St. Joseph.
Dorothy is survived by her children-Gary (Carolyn) Hora of Stevensville, Sandra (Mike) Craig of Stevensville; three grandchildren-Chad Conery, Cory & Jenna Craig; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter in September, 1972, and her siblings-Frank Pooch, Edith Hill, Minnie Pooch and Mary Jane Starner.
