Dorothy's Obituary
Dorothy Getman, 93, of South Haven, Michigan, peacefully passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at River Ridge in South Haven. She was born March 3, 1930, to Phillip and Adoline (Mrugacz) Wagner Wyszynski. Dorothy married Roland Arthur Getman on June 25, 1956, in Watervliet, Michigan. They shared 58 years of marriage before his passing in 2014. Dorothy enjoyed dancing the polka, flower gardening, quilting, picking blueberries or any other fruit, playing with all the “furry” family members, and most of all helping others. She always put others’ needs before her own.
Dorothy is survived by her children; Doug (Pam) Getman, Roger Getman, Sally (Tom) Frank, five grandchildren; Rilee Getman (Kalyssa Hesler), Laramie Otto (Travis McGibbon), Lindsay (Alex) Hayes, Toni (Jimmy) Pezzuto, Tashia (Peter) Honcharenko, and four great-grandchildren; Haley and Ellie Honcharenko, Christopher Pezzuto, and Isabella Hayes. Also surviving is her sister Lillian Valind.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Edward Wagner, Phil Wyszynski, Adolph Wagner, Loretta Schurr, Mae Steinmiller, Violet Scott, and Genevieve Johnson.
Visitation will be at the Filbrandt Chapel, 1076 S. Bailey Ave, South Haven Michigan 49090, on Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven, Michigan.
