Dorothy's Obituary
Dorothy Ann Rasmussen, 84, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023 in Allegan, Michigan. She was a long-time resident of Fennville, Michigan.
Dorothy was born February 19, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Francis John and Mary Alice (Clark) Pines. On July 5, 1958 Dorothy was united in marriage to Lawrence Rasmussen. They shared 62 years of marriage before his passing on October 19, 2020. Dorothy was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Third Order Carmelite and World Apostolate of Fatima. Her family was very important to her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved being a homemaker.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Lawrence Rasmussen of Fennville, MI. Peter Rasmussen of Fennville, MI. Lisa (Jim) Peterson of Fennville, MI. Jill (Brian) Visser of Byron Center, MI. Eric Rasmussen of West Bloomfield, MI. Kirk (Carol) Rasmussen in Fennville, MI. Mark (Traci) Rasmussen of Houston, TX, sister, Carol (Tom) Lavery of Fennville, MI., and sister-in-law, Connee Pines. Also surviving are 32 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis John and Mary Alice Pines and husband Lawrence Rasmussen and brother, Bill Pines.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 17th 2023 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with Rosary beginning at 7:30 P.M. at the Filbrandt Chapel: 1076 S Bailey Ave, South Haven, MI 49090. There will be a second visitation at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023 from 10 A.M. to until the time of the Mass at 11:00 A.M. with Father Christopher Derda and Father Robert Mulderink officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Douglas Cemetery in Douglas, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dorothy’s honor can be made out to Wings Home: 330 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010 or Wings of Hope Hospice: 530 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010.
