Doris's Obituary
She was born on June 30, 1922 to Sheppard Heard Sr. and Julia Vaughn Heard in Yazoo, Mississippi. Doris worked at as a Teacher’s Aide for many years. She was involved in the N.A.A.C.P. and the Chicago Teachers Union. Doris attended Mount Calvary Church in Pullman, Michigan, the Holy Angels Catholic Church and the West Point Baptist Church.
A visitation will be held at the Filbrandt Chapel on November 23, 2024 from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. with the funeral immediately following at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Charles Knox, from The Mount Calvary Church, officiating. Doris will be laid to rest at Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip, Illinois.
She is survived by daughter, Vicky Johnson Brown (Tyrone), Two Grandchildren, Denise A. Brown - White (Connie) & Candice R. Brown-Parrott. One Stepson, Larry Thomas & One Stepdaughter, Desiree Jackson. Great-Grandchildren, Angel A. Murray, Kami Parrott, Maylaysia Parrott and Charlie Parrott. One Brother, Shepard Heard Jr., One Sister, Zenobia Williams and Adopted Son, Ronald Brown.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents Sheppard Heard Sr. and Julia Vaughn Heard, Husband, Charlie Johnson and Ernest Banister, One Brother, William Heard.
