Donald L. “Don” Henderson, 91, of Stevensville, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 2PM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, from 12PM until time of the service at the funeral home. Don was born on October 23, 1930, to George & Anna (McCormick) Henderson, in Coshocton, OH. He graduated from West Lafayette High School in Ohio then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for 21 years before retirement in 1972. He then started working for Transamerica as an Insurance Adjuster. On October 5, 1952, Don married Betty Lou Spath in Hudson, OH, and remained faithfully married until Betty’s passing in 2014. Don enjoyed playing board games and cards with friends and family. He had a passion for sports and cheered on the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers and The Ohio State University.
Don is survived by his children, Jeffrey Henderson of Stevensville, Chris (Mary Beth) Henderson of Niles, David (Susan) Henderson of Chesterland, OH, and Cynthia Tefs of Benton Harbor; grandchildren, Susan Tefs of Baroda and Dustin (Sarah) Tefs of St. Joseph; four great-grandchildren; a number of step grand and great-grandchildren; and brother Rodney (Karen) Henderson of St. Petersburg. FL.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, George & Anna Henderson; wife Betty Lou Henderson; and eleven siblings.
