Don's Obituary
Donald J. “Don” Darr, 82, of Dowagiac, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, and Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 603 McCleary St, Dowagiac, with Pastor David Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. In an effort to continue to keep everyone safe and healthy, Don’s family is requesting masks be worn during services. Memorial contributions in Don’s name may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church. Don was born January 5, 1939, in Dowagiac to Louis and Katie Darr. He graduated from Dowagiac High School, then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force. During his time in the military, he traveled around the world and visited many beautiful places. On July 29, 1951, he married the love of his life Janice “Jan” (Gregg) Darr. Don worked for the South Bend Tribune as the circulation manager for over 38 years before his retirement. He enjoyed watching college football and loved to attend his grandson’s sporting events. In his spare time, he would often visit Mr. Wahoo’s restaurant where he liked to visit with his friends. Most of all he loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Don is survived by his wife, Jan Darr; children, Kirk Darr and Kristy Fedore; grandson, Nickolas (Kara) Fedore; brother, Richard (Rona) Darr; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Katie Darr; and siblings, Ed Darr, Irene Seibel, Harold Darr and Leon Darr.
