Dolores's Obituary

Dolores June Patzer-Nimtz, 93, of Stevensville, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at A Place Called Home in Stevensville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, at 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 E. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Joshua Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made out to Grace Lutheran Church. Dolores was born on July 9, 1930, in Benton Harbor to Oscar & Martha (Fechner) Brado. She grew up in St. Joseph and graduated from St. Joseph Public High School in 1948. On April 23, 1949, Dolores married Elmer G. Patzer. The two were happily married for nearly 38 years before his passing in 1986. Dolores would later marry John Nimtz on July 9, 1994; together they spent 18 wonderful years of marriage together before his passing in 2012. Dolores was employed by Berrien County Probate Court, Berrien County Cancer Services & served as the Executive Director for The American Cancer Society. Her primary employment was through the Anesthesiology Association which she would later retire from. Dolores was a proud volunteer at the Lakeland Medical Center; she enjoyed spending her time there helping others until her health would no longer allow it. She also liked to read, knit, and spend time with her family.

Dolores is survived by sons, Dennis (Becky) Patzer of Kalamazoo, Brian (Sue) Patzer of Bridgman; step-sons Tom Nimtz of Sister Lakes and Brian (Kelly) Nimtz of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Heidi (Brian) Leder, Holly (Ed) Annen, Annie (Andy) Post, Ryan (Karie) Patzer, Kelly (Mike) Milnickel, Katie (David) Moran, and Kim (Jordan) O'Hearn; step-grandchildren, Carter Nimtz and Kelsey Nimtz; 17 great-grandchildren;; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar & Martha; son, Gary Patzer; and sister, Donna (Fred) Essig.
