Diana's Obituary
Our feisty and loving mother, Diana Gean Parks, sadly passed away on July 28th, 2023. Truly one of a kind, Diana had a way with words that made everything funny, even when she didn’t mean it to be. In fact, it often annoyed her when people would laugh at what she said because she meant 100% of whatever it was. So many times, she had to be told that it was her delivery that was everything.
Diana is survived by her husband John Parks, her daughter Angelica Gallegos-Dickerson (Nicholas Dickerson), her son Ricky Gallegos (Carolina Giraldo), her grandchildren Isabella Sebastian Gallegos-Thompson and Ricardo Gallegos, her brothers Billy Burnes and Michael D. Burnes.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Jay Burnes, her sister Susan Wright, her mother Frankie Burnes, and her father Bill Burnes.
Diana took her commitments seriously. She was married to John Parks for 45 years. She was a defender of her children, grandchildren, and family. Diana never wavered. If you were her family, and whether you knew it or not, she loved you fiercely. She considered her greatest accomplishments to be her children and grandchildren.
Diana was a lover of bright colors, a skilled cook, and a creator of beautiful knit and crochet Afghan blankets. A few years ago, she even went on a tear and made a bunch of crocheted shawls that she gave out to many family members. Some of us received more than one. She will be deeply, deeply missed. May she rest in the peace and serenity she so deserved.
Diana will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven, Michigan, next to her mom Frankie Burnes, and her son Michael Jay Burnes, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023. Arrangements have been entrusted to Filbrandt Chapel-Starks Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services. 269-637-0333
