Darrell's Obituary
Darrell Wayne Kennedy, age 81, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023. He was born on October 3, 1941 to Kenneth and Harland (Gesking) Kennedy in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Darrell was married to the former, JoAnn Boyd, on November 23, 1963, and they spent 40 loving years together until her passing in January of 2004.
Darrell started out working on a farm as a young man and went to work for 10 years as a truck driver. After his time trucking, he moved on to work as a Grader Operator for 25 years for the Cass County Road Commission until his retirement. He loved watching sports on TV, attending local high school games for family and friends, woodworking, and starting projects around his home. Darrell was a survivor of cancer.
Darrell is survived by his son, Michael (Karen) Kennedy; brother, Robert (Connie) Kennedy; sister, Judy (Bill) Remington; nieces and nephews; two grandchildren, and several close friends and caring neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, JoAnn Kennedy; and daughter, Vicky Kennedy.
Darrell will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations in Darrell’s name can be made out to either the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to the Starks and Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, MI 49085.
