Darlene's Obituary
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30-11 am, also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library, St. Joseph. Darlene was born on December 7, 1942, in Benton Harbor, MI. She graduated from St. Joseph High School. On August 19, 1967, she married Russell Adler in Paw Paw, MI. Darlene continued her education through Lake Michigan College, earning her RN Degree. Throughout her 35-year career, she held various skilled nursing positions as a geriatric nurse with many organizations in the area. Darlene truly had a passion in her profession and was dedicated to her lifelong service for others.
Darlene was an avid reader and was well known at the library, reading several books each month. She also enjoyed crocheting, loved the lakeshore and beach. Most of all, Darlene cherished her family.
Darlene is survived by her children, David (Cindy) Adler, Kelly (Julie) Clark-Adler and Benjamin (Beth) Adler; grandchildren, Heather, Joanna and David Adler, Jr., Ian, Ava and Owen Clark-Adler and Hannah, Emma and Madeline Adler; brother, Donald Dettman and sister-in-law, Janice (Jim) Rennick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Adler; mother, Minta (Ken) Arney and father, Donald (Elsie) Dettman
