Clarence's Obituary

Clarence Walter Kronbetter, 98, of St. Joseph, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at The Whitcomb Senior Living Tower in St. Joseph.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 9, 2023 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516. Walt was born September 13, 1924 in Hope, Kansas to Daniel & Mollie (Pankratz) Kronbetter. He served his country in the United States Army Air Force from 1943 until 1945 during WWII. Walt received two medals The Distinguished Flying Cross from the United States and the French Legion of Honor. On April 4, 1948 he married Mary Etta Kolberg in Sodus, MI. Walt was an engineer for Ball Rubber and later Chardon, patenting three parts for rubber gaskets. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, and woodworking.

Walt is survived by his daughter Cheryl (John) Kobrin of Jackson, MI; son William (Patricia) Kronbetter of Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren Jennifer Kobrin, Sharon Kobrin and Ryan (Tessa) Kronbetter; three great grandchildren Harper, Reese and Arthur; and sister Jane Stolfo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and siblings Alvin, Nina and William.
