Charles William “Chuck” Dinges, 83, of Stevensville, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Corewell Health Lakeland, St. Joseph.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville, MI. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 10-11 am also at the church. Memorial contributions in Chuck’s name may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Stevensville. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel, St. Joseph.

Chuck was born on September 12, 1940, to Henry and Mildred (Reimer) Dinges in St. Joseph. He completed his education at Lakeshore High School in 1958, marking his graduation as a member of the inaugural class in the school’s history. Chuck was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing basketball throughout his high school career. He then honorably served in the Army National Guard.

On May 15, 1965, he married Arlene Damaske in Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Joseph. Professionally, Chuck spent most of his career in banking, dedicating numerous years with Inter City Bank. He also worked for many years in the car industry, with Weller Chevrolet. Most recently in retirement, Chuck has enjoyed working part time with LeValley Chevrolet.

Chuck loved being outdoors, whether it be tending to the flowers, on the deck reading, enjoying a crossword puzzle or just puttering around, perhaps listening to Willie Nelson. He always enjoyed watching sports and would turn on anything that was available to watch. He was a dedicated member at Christ Lutheran Church, serving as an usher for many years.

Chuck is survived by his daughter, Julie (Jeff) Hannan; son, Gregory Dinges; grandchildren, Matthew Hannan, Alyssa Hannan and Nicholas Dinges; brother, Larry (Joyce) Dinges; brothers-in-law, Ray (Mary) Damaske, James (Jeanine) Damaske and beloved granddog, Brady. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Mildred Dinges; wife of 55 years, Arlene Dinges; brother-in-law, Donald Damaske and sister-in-law, Karen Damaske.
