Cecilia's Obituary
Cecilia Ann Trizna-Vargo, 85, of New Buffalo, passed away on Monday – August 21, 2023 at Aperion Care in Michigan City, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 North Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
Cecilia was born on April 12, 1938 in Joliet, IL to the late Joseph and Cecilia (Branchaw) Trizna. In August of 1985 she married Nandor Vargo; he preceded her in death in November 1998. Cecilia was Dean of Student at Joliet West High School, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed reading a good book and was a Friend of the Library-New Buffalo, MI. Cecilia also was an avid sports fan, especially of the Michigan Wolverines and the Chicago White Sox.
Cecilia is survived by her sister – AnnaMae Repke of Mundelein, IL; aunt -Marcella Autero (Branchaw) of Joliet, IL; nephews – Joseph (Colleen) Repke and David Repke; great nieces – Kristyn, Danielle, Claudia and Clarissa (Repke); and numerous cousins and many good friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Lake Church in New Buffalo, MI, on Weds., August 30, at 12pm, with Father Basker Lopez officiating. Visitation with the family precedes the service at the church from 11:00am-12:00pm. Services in Joliet, IL will take place at a later date. Cecilia’s final resting place will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either St. Mary of the Lake Church - 718 W. Buffalo St., New Buffalo, MI, 49117 or to St. Mary Nativity Church -706 N. Broadway St., Joliet, IL, 60435 or to the charity of your choice.
