Carol's Obituary
Carol M. Sackett, 81, of Watervliet, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Corewell Health Lakeland. A funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 17, at 11 AM at Midway Baptist, 7517 Red Arrow Hwy, Watervliet, MI, with Pastor Ron Hayes officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, October 16, from 5 PM until 7 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Carol was born on March, 18 1942 in Kalamazoo to N Reed & Maxine (Lantz) Williams. She graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1960 and then went on to attend Western Michigan University where she earned a Master’s Degree in Education. On September 9, 1962, Carol married the love of her life, Thomas Sackett, in Gobles. Following her passion for teaching, she began working in the Benton Harbor School System for the majority of her career and retiring in 2004 after 29 rewarding years of teaching from Boynton Montessori. Carol had many interests in her life such as gardening and crafts but what she loved the most was spending time with her family and continually thanking God for all that He has blessed her with.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Thomas Sackett; children, Bradley (Sandy) Sackett of Berrien Center, Wendi (Tom) Eisen of Watervliet, and Cheryl Wood of Kalamazoo; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lois Jean (Chris Smith) Ayers and June Knapp. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Joan Culp, Jack Williams, Joyce Ballinger, & Janice Keegstra.
