Carl's Obituary
Carl died peacefully in his sleep on Sept 01, 2023, aft er a brief illness at his home, where he was lovingly cared for by his fami ly.
He was born in Hardin County, Savannah, Tennessee, on January 05, 1943, the Second son of James William and Annie Marie (Wolf) Shelby.
He married his beautiful wife Janice on January 14, 1961, in Sodus, Michigan, and they shared 49 years of life together.
Carl worked in agriculture and farming most of his adult life and retired from Berry Brook Farms of Dowagiac.
His loving family includes:
Son Carl Jr. and (Sherry) Shelby of Decatur, Jeffrey and (Roxanne) Shelby of Texas, five grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
His wife, Janice, preceded him in death on August 28, 2010, and their youngest son, Donald Eugene Shelby, on May 21, 2008. Also, His oldest brother, Kenneth William in 1941 who died shortly after birth, and his youngest brother, Jimmy Frank Shelby, from Benton Harbor on July 10, 2022 .
Per his request, a private graveside service for his immediate family was held on September 8, 2023 in Hamilton Cemetery, Decatur, MI. Arrangements were entrusted to Clark Chapel – Starks Family Funeral Homes, 405 Center St, Dowagiac. Those wishing to leave a memory of Carl may visit www.clarkch.com.
