Carl E. Mathews, 68, of St. Joseph, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2022, at his home.
Carl was born on October 12, 1953, to Frank & Mary Rita (Brice) Mathews in Gary, IN. He graduated from Griffith High School and then continued his education at Purdue University earning his Masters degree. Carl worked as an electrical engineer for many years before his retirement.
Carl was a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church and volunteered for Trinity Lutheran Church’s Food Pantry. In his spare time, he enjoyed rollerblading and cheering on the Purdue Boilermakers.
Carl is survived by his children Anne Harvey of Frankfort, IL and Mary (Joshua Kettley) Mathews of Ann Arbor; grandchildren, Oscar Harvey and Mateo & Margot Kettley; siblings, Peggy (Darryl) Holst of Beverley Shores, IN, Tommy (Ces) Mathews of Downers Grove, IL, Jack Mathews of Portland, OR, Brenda (Jeff) Parry of Michigan City, IN, Alan (Judy) Mathews of Orlando, FL, Irene Bowers of Lakewood, OH and Valerie (Bill) Warren of Chesterton, IN; stepmother Barbara Mathews; and his feline companion, Ghost.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Sheila Brady, Maureen Roberts, and Jheri Walsworth.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, at 10AM, at St. Ann of the Dunes, 433 Golf Wood Rd., Beverly Shores, IN 46301, with a luncheon to follow.
