Jim's Obituary

Carl “Jim” Gard, 83, of Dowagiac, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at his home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel and Cremation Services.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held graveside on Friday, April 15, 2022, at 11 AM at Crane Cemetery in Volinia. Friends may visit with the family from 10:30AM until the time of service at the cemetery. Memorial contributions in Jim’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Boys Town Charity. Jim was born April 4, 1939, in Volinia to Dana Warren and Eva Marie (Hull) Gard. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1956. Jim worked in the Tool and Die industry most of his life, working for Rudy’s, CTS and NIBCO. He enjoyed hunting, old cars and watching boxing. Most of all he loved his family and will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by his children, Julie Willis, Ed (Rosemarie Keene) Gard and Vickie (Jack) Wood; grandchildren, Abbie (Tim) Feirick, Shelby (Tyler Renbarger) Willis, Amy (Jenny) McDaniels and Katie (Josh) Cross; great-grandchildren, Justin and Tyler Feirick, Jayden and Jace McDaniels, Jackson and Jesse Cross and Rollins Renbarger; siblings, Ruth McDonald and Fran Moroz. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Donna Schott, Kenneth “Kink” Gard, Nancy Fester and Jack Gard.
