Candace's Obituary
Candace Star Hart-Hathaway, age 51, of Chicago, IL died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, Thursday afternoon, August 25, 2022, at her home in Michigan following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 7, 1970, to Candace (Browne) Hart and the late Robert E. Hart.
Candace is survived by her loving husband of 12 years, Daniel Hathaway, and their beloved dog Hopper.
Also surviving are her son Ethan (Allyson) Hart-Cook of New Jersey; Ethan’s father and Candace’s longtime friend Peter Cook of Chicago, IL; her mother and step-father Candace Hart and Chris Gadziala of Chicago, IL; her sister Isabella (Kelly Kircher) Hart formerly of Oak Park, IL and now Dowagiac, MI and her nephew and nieces Julian, Jenna, and Ava; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and close friends. She will be missed by so many.
Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation. A service to celebrate Candace’s life will be held at a later date.
Anyone who knew Candace Star, knew how much she loved animals. Despite her wedding vow to Dan (fingers-crossed behind her back) not to get a dog, they both first fell in love with Katya (Ethan and Peter’s dog whom they frequently babysat) and then fell head over heels and adopted their own dog Hopper from PAWS-Chicago Rescue/Shelter.
