Brone's Obituary

Brone Rumsa, 91, of St. Joseph, will be missed, but not forgotten, as she passed away peacefully, on Thursday, December 30, 2021.

A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 11:30AM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10:30AM until time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 25 N. Brone was born in Mosteikiai, Lithuania, on December 28, 1930, to Antanas & Petronele (Tamulyte) Milasauskas. She graduated High School in Germany then immigrated to the United States in 1947. She continued her education at University of Illinois. In 1952, she married Antanas Juratis Rumsa in Chicago. Brone worked as a bookkeeper for Standard Federal Saving and Loans before she retired. In 1997, she moved to St. Joseph to be closer to her grandchildren. Brone had a love for dogs but her favorite time was spent with her family.

Brone is survived by her sons, Arunas (Michelle) Rumsa of Coloma and Sarunas (Ruta Green) Rumsa of Bridgman; grandchildren, Alex, Erik, Nicholas and Lucas Rumsa; and sister Eugenija.

Brone was preceded in death by her parents, Antanas & Petronele Milasauskas; husband Antanas Rumsa; and her sister, Antanina.

While she lived most of her life in the United States, she had a special place in her heart for her sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews in Lithuania.
