Bonnie was born on February 8, 1932 in Benton Harbor to John & Elizabeth (Krugh) Bares. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1950. Bonnie began work at Whirlpool where she made several life long friends. The girls even traveled together to see the "world". While hanging out with her friends at the local bowling alley, Bonnie met the love of her life, William Zitta, and on August 25, 1956, the two would get married in South Bend, IN. The two spent 65 years married before his passing in 2021. In 1964, Bonnie began working as a cashier at Zick's Grocery Store, now named Roger’s Foodland. She enjoyed socializing with the customers and was always greeting people with a friendly smile. She would retire from working in 1997 at the age of 65. Bonnie was an avid golfer and would play as often as she could whether it be by herself, with William or with a league at Wyndwicke Golf Course. However, what she loved the most was spending time with her family, especially around Christmas time when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were all together.

Bonnie is survived by her daughters, Beth (John) Schueneman of St. Joseph, Sheree Little of St. Petersburg, FL, and Becky (Norm) Gardner of Fairport, NY; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth; husband, William; half brother, Kenneth Reynolds; and step-siblings, Glenda Willis, Madeline Clark and Donald DeFord and son-in-law, Jeff Little.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Tracy, Kimberly, and the caregivers and staff at Caretel as well as the caregivers from Hospice Caring Circle for taking care of our mother these last few months. Until we meet again, Mom.
