Billie's Obituary

Billie Dewalt was born on February 6, 1948, to the union of the late Clifford “Buddy” and Inez Shaw Dewalt in Ripley, Tennessee. He passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Hanson Hospice, Stevensville.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Refreshing Fountains COGIC, 175 S. Euclid Ave., Benton Harbor, MI with Pastor Albert Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, also at the church from 10-11 am. Billie was educated in the Lauderdale County public schools. He moved to Benton Harbor, MI in 1966. Billie was an honest and hardworking man that was deeply loved by family and friends alike. He was employed by Imperial Steel for four years, Benton Harbor Malibu for eight years and, went on to work at Michigan Fruit Canneries for 20 years until his retirement.

In 1971 he met the love of his life Flora, and they married in 1975, they shared this union for 46 years. In 2011 he dedicated his life to Christ at Saint Marks Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Donald L. Green, he later joined Chrystal Light Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Albert Sanders.

Outside of spending time with his loving and devoted wife Flora, Billie loved riding his scooter, playing his game, and his favorite saying was “Doc”. On December 2, 2021, at 5:55am at Henson Park, Billie was peacefully promoted for a “Job Well Done” and given the honor to take his seat at the table with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Billie was preceded in death by his parents Buddy and Inez Dewalt, daughter Gloria Sanders, sister Alberta Dewalt, and brothers Sonny, Barry, David T, Luther, and Howard Dewalt. He leaves to cherish his memory wife Flora Dewalt, daughter Shannon (Kevin) Smiley from St. Lucie, FL, sons Lonnie (Bridgette) Butler, and Earl Sanders and Life Long friend (Valentine) all from Benton Harbor, MI brother Reginald (Marilyn) Dewalt Henning, TN sisters Gennie Dewalt and Dorothy Copeland, Ripley TN, Carolyn Taylor Henning ,TN, Diane(Rod) Claybrooks of Maury City TN. One brother-in- law and four sisters-in-law a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends 2 special grandchildren Kierra and Kavon Smiley, 1 special nephew Damond Anderson.
