Betty's Obituary
It is with sadness that the family of Betty Turk announce that she passed away peacefully on June 10th, 2023, at Bronson Commons in Mattawan.
Betty was born to Ivan and Iris (Newell) Ives on February 5, 1946 in Paw Paw, Michigan. She lived in Decatur all of her life.
She was a proud life-time member of the VFW Post 6248.
She was a kind, compassionate, caretaker through the years for elderly people.
Betty enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and babysat for many children in the area over the years.
She was an avid gardener, and loved to cook and bake for her family.
She is survived by her children: Sherry (Brian) Dykstra, Scott (Laura) Turk, and Lori Turk, all of Decatur; Debbie Goble, of Paw Paw: and Michelle Docekal, of Lawton. Grandchildren: Dawn Slavings, Erica Gibson, Nichole Turk, Scott Turk, Samantha Garcia, Jason Waller, Brandon Goble, Jennifer Docekal, Emily Docekal, Michael Docekal, Mathew Docekal, and Sara Docekal. Also, in the family are 12 great-grandchildren.
She is survived also by her siblings: Connie (Bob) Johnson, Richard Ives, Sandra (Kim) Hull, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Byron Ives.
Starks Family Funeral Home at Newell Chapel are in charge of arrangements, and her family will hold a private burial at a later date.
