Betty's Obituary
Betty was born in Menominee, Michigan, and she spent most of her life in the Upper Peninsula enjoying the splendors of Michigan’s great outdoors. During her husband’s time enlisted in the United States Air Force, they had spent several years overseas. They settled in Manistique in 1965 when Boyd retired from the Air Force. Her home in Manistique was perched on the Indian River where she would watch the wildlife everyday out her windows. She was an avid bridge player, belonging to several bridge clubs. She was a member of the Manistique Women’s Club for over 50 years. She began her career as a retail clerk at The Vogue in 1967. Betty was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School throughout the years. She would spend her winters, after retirement, in Las Vegas. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her joy, and she cherished the time that they would spend with her in Manistique. Her neighbors Mike and Karen LaFoille were like family to her, taking great care of her.
A Celebration of Betty’s life will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church (435 Oak St, Manistique, MI 49854). Betty will be laid to rest at the Riverview Cemetery in her hometown of Menominee, Michigan. For a more lasting memory donations in Betty’s name can be made out to Zion Lutheran Church or Bay Cliff Health Camp (N. 4175 Baycliff Dr. Big Bay, MI 49808).
