Barbara's Obituary
Barbara was born on July 3, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Thomas and Hazel (Turner) Cowan. On June 29, 1957 she married John Edward Neis; he preceded her in death on March 10, 1998.
Barbara lived her catholic faith, led by example, taught us lessons our whole lives, and loved us unconditionally. She was interested in everything we were doing – school, work, play, and relationships with others. She wanted to hear about all of it. Barbara became an adoptive mother to our friends and provided guidance and counsel to all. She was always up for an adventure and gathering of family. She reveled in birthdays, baptisms, weddings, vacations, ball games, shopping, and lunches and dinners out. She cherished the time we spent together. Barbara’s nurturing spirit and devotion to her family will forever be remembered and treasured.
Barbara is survived by her children – J. Timothy (Denise) Neis, Michael (Amy) Neis, Maureen (Chris) Griffith, Mary (Doug) Campbell, and William (Amy) Neis; grandchildren – John Neis, Erin Neis, Sarah (Tyler) Dossey, John (Nicole) Neis, Mary Margaret (Sean) Watts, Emily (William) Renwick, Charlotte Griffith, Ian Griffith, Kevin (Mary) Campbell, Elizabeth Campbell, Matthew Campbell, Claire Campbell, Lisa Neis and Betsy Neis; and great grandchildren – Michael and Matthew Neis, Ellie Dossey and Sloane Campbell. She is also preceded in death by a son – Thomas Neis, a sister – Dorothea Daugherty and a brother – Thomas Cowan. Barbara was a cherished sister in law and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
