Audrey Mae Yates passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at her home in Benton Harbor.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Second Baptist Church in Benton Harbor with Rev. Kenneth E. Robinson officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, December 28th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery. Audrey was born in Ponchatoula, Louisiana to the union of Albert and Ella Rena (Hills) Jones. She moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan in 1969, where she met and married Theo Yates. They had one son, Terrence Ladell Yates and later she had another son, Alonzo Woodley Jr.
Audrey worked throughout her life at various employers including Patterson printing, Aramark and Berrien County Juvenile Center.
She volunteered a lot of time to her church, where she has been a faithful member for more than 40 years. She participated in the Inspirational choir, Usher Board, Culinary ministry, and the Nursery ministry of Second Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Terrance and Alonzo (Benton Harbor, MI); five sisters, Cathy (James) Yates, Rosemary Holloway, Kathy (Sherman) Duff, Cynthia Jones, and Tina Cyprian (Benton Harbor, MI); three brothers, Albert Jones (Benton Harbor, MI), Ronnie Jones (Indianapolis, IN), Stanley Collins (Baltimore, MD); grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and several other family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ella Rena Jones; her husband, Theo Yates and two brothers, Frank Allen and Alfred Jones.
