Arnold's Obituary

Thursday, November 4, 2021, Arnold Liedtke, arrived at his final destination, Heaven.
He had not been well for several months and he was tired. He missed his wife Mary, who has been gone 4 years.

Arnie was a steadfast Godly man who loved the Lord with his whole being. He spent his whole life in service to God and church, serving in youth and children’s ministries, Sunday School, choir, and many years on the church board as treasurer at First Assembly of God, Benton Harbor (now Blue Roof Church). Anywhere there was a job to do, he was there, working tirelessly.

In later years he joined First Church of God and became a faithful choir member. Arnie loved music and had an amazing bass voice. While he never learned to read music formally, his ear for music was spot on. He also sang with the Southwest Michigan Sounds Good Choir.

Arnie immigrated with his parents to the United States after WWII and became a citizen in November, 1957, at the age of 21. Arnie believed the United States was the greatest place to live and he was proud to be an American citizen.

Arnie married Mary Lillian Edelberg on May 17, 1958, in Benton Harbor. They were married 59 and one-half years before her death on November 17, 2017.

He got his high school diploma and graduated with a cap and gown, from Lakeshore High School in 1993. Arnie worked at LECO corporation for 55 years as a laboratory glass blower. Arnie was the first person to reach 50 years at LECO and was appreciative to work for a company who truly cared for their employees.

Arnie had a simple, beautiful life. He loved his Lord, and his family, especially his precious granddaughters Amy (Phillip) and Sarah, and great grandsons Avery and Pierce. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Bump) Enders, granddaughters Amy (Phillip) Fisher, and Sarah Enders, great-grandsons Avery and Pierce Fisher, siblings Erna Mueller, Albert (Diana) Liedtke, Gisela (Bob) McClure, and Paul (Irmgard) Liedtke. Arnie was preceded in death by his wife Mary, parents Karl and Helene, siblings Robert, Clara and Aline.

Private burial will take place at Spring Run Cemetery in Scottdale. Memorial donations in Arnie’s name may be made to First Church of God Missions. Those wishing to sign Arnie’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
