Anne's Obituary

Anne Louise Takacs, 86, of Stevensville, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 5PM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Refreshments and food will follow the service. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 4PM until time of service at the funeral home. Anne was born on September 10, 1936, in Toledo, OH, to Richard & Ardanelle (O’Neil) Schlicher. She graduated from Libbey High School and continued her education at University of Toledo where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Anne was a member of Chi Omega sorority at UT.

On November 10, 1956, Anne married the love of her life Andrew Takacs in Toledo, OH. She taught briefly in Toledo and Clyde, OH and a short time in Benton Harbor, MI. Anne liked to stay busy and give back to her community. She served both as president and as a member of Women’s Service League as well as on the Board of Education of Lake Michigan Catholic Schools (now known as Our Lady of the Lake,) for 9 years. At St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Anne served as Director of Religious Education (CCD), was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister, and enjoyed participating in weekly bible study. In addition, she was also a member of the Twin City Panhellenic and Birthright Auxiliary. Anne also volunteered at Lakeland Hospital and at the Benton Harbor Soup Kitchen.

In her spare time, Anne enjoyed golf and was a member of Berrien Hills Country Club 18 Hole League, serving terms as president. She loved to arrange flowers, garden, cook, and party with good friends. She was an active member of the Indian Hills Garden Club.

Anne will be greatly missed by both family and friends. She is survived by her husband Andrew Takacs; children, Michael (Audrey) Takacs, David (Kerry) Takacs, and Karen (Dr. Edward) Delle Donne; grandchildren, Stephanie Takacs (Shouvik Mahamud), Danielle Takacs (Aaron Barden), Kristin (Andrew) Bauer, and Drew Takacs, Kaitlyn, Alyson, and Joseph Delle Donne; great-grandchildren, Brielle Bauer and Beau Bauer (who was born September 20, 2022); sister, Jane (William) Marohn and her children: John (Sue) Marohn, Jim (Amy) Marohn, Lynn (Ted) Kramer; cousin, Sue Plummer, as well as several nieces and nephews.
