Aletha's Obituary
Aletha I. Archer, 100, of Dowagiac, passed away on February 10, 2022, at her home.
A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022, at 2PM, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center Street, Dowagiac. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, February 14, 2022, from 1PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Aletha was born on December 28, 1921, to Lyle & Blanche (Evans) Merrill in Brownsville, MI. On February 8, 1940, Aletha married the love of her life Orval Archer and were happily married until his passing in 1992. Aletha enjoyed doing crafts and making quilts by hand. She also was a great cook and made delicious wedding cakes. She enjoyed her time spent going to different bar’s with her sisters aka “The Bitty’s.”
Aletha is survived by her children, Donald (Bette) Archer of Gobles and Diane Archer-Miller; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Schoetzow, Mildred Miller, Louise Duffy, and Marion Shemick.
Aletha was preceded in death by her parents; husband Orval Archer; son Robert Archer; and siblings, Joe Merrill and Alice Sieber.
