Alan's Obituary
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 23. 2022 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Berrien Springs with military rites conducted by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Al’s name may be made to The Samaritan’s Purse-for aide to the Ukraine. Al was born March 24, 1943 in Watervliet to Richard “Dick” & Katherine (Kemper) Prillwitz. He graduated from Berrien Springs High School, Class of 1961. Al served his country in the United States Army Reserve during the Vietnam War. On April 27, 1974 he married the former Joyce MacKenzie at Napier Parkview Baptist Church in Benton Harbor. Al spent his working career on the family fruit farm with his Father and uncle, retiring in 2007. Al attended The Chapel in St. Joseph. He was a member of Farm Bureau of Berrien County where he served as president for ten years. He also served as president of the Prillwitz Family Reunion Committee for many years. Al cherished the time spent with his family and many friends.
Al is survived by his wife Joyce; his children-Chad Prillwitz & Jason Prillwitz, both of Benton Harbor, his daughter Kelly (Dan) Vaughn of St. Joseph; two grandsons Danny & Matt Vaughn; and his extended family Paul, Shirley & Fritz Wells. He was preceded in death by his parents.
