Al's Obituary

.Al Kasewurm, 78, of Stevensville, passed away unexpectedly , Saturday, July 13, 2024.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville, with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Friends may visit with the Family from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, donations in Al’s name may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Lest We Forget. Those wishing to sign Al’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Al was born September 17, 1945 in New London, CT to Arthur & Doris (Fargh) Kasewurm. His family moved to St. Joseph in 1953 to operate the Penny Arcade at Silver Beach Amusement Park. Al graduated from Lakeshore High School, Class of 1963 and attended trade school to learn the tool & die trade. On October 2, 1965, he married the former Kathy Ferguson in Benton Harbor. Al served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Vietnam. Upon return, he was employed at Whirlpool Corp. for several years before joining his Father at the family business, ABC General Machine & Tool in Stevensville. After his Father’s passing, he moved the business to Benton Harbor and changed the name to ABC Precision Machining, which he continued to operate until 2014.

Al was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir and was very active in Church Properties. He was also a member of Stevensville American Legion and enjoyed attending their steak fries and hamburger nights. Al was a people person that enjoyed visiting with whomever he met, and was a very dependable Man of his Word. In his free time, he enjoyed polka dancing, fishing, and spending time with his family and many friends.

Al is survived by his wife Kathy; his children-Debra (Kirk) Schroeder of Stevensville, Paul (Sandy) Kasewurm of Brentwood, TN, Erik (Debra) Kasewurm of Benton Harbor, Matthew (Kristen) Kasewurm of Baroda; seven grandchildren-Tyler (Michelle) Schroeder, Chase & Arianna Hafer, Conor & Sofia Kasewurm, Lila Umphrey, Isaac Dahlke; his siblings-Linda (Thomas) Hausch of Eagle, ID & David (Gyl) Kasewurm of Benton Harbor; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded by his parents and his sister and brother-in-law Ruth (William) Brege.
