Addie was an only child born to Albert and Minnie Rutz on August 16, 1930, in Benton Harbor. Her cousin, George Kruggel, was like a brother to her and they shared many memories throughout her childhood. She attended St. Matthew’s Lutheran School and graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1948.

She met and married Robert Scheffler in 1952. Addie was a devoted wife to Bob; and they were blessed to have shared 70 wonderful years together. She was a mother to Tom, Cindy, Liz & Steve and loved her children deeply. She was a constant source of love and support, providing guidance and wisdom throughout their lives. A homemaker most of her life, Addie truly was a selfless woman who was always there for her family.

Adeline’s love for her children was only matched by her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a proud grandma and always enjoyed watching them grow and sharing in their joys and accomplishments.

Her talents and interests included needlepoint and cooking. She was especially known for her apple pie, which was a family favorite.

Adeline was also a loyal friend who valued the relationships she had with the people in her life. Her kind and generous spirit touched many lives, and she will be missed by all who knew her.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Robert, children Thomas (Carla) Scheffler, Cynthia (John) Allen, Elizabeth (Stephen) Ross and Stephen (Kimberley) Scheffler. She also adored her grandchildren, Samantha (Fabbio), Donna, Matthew (Inbar), David (Kelcey), Ryan (Brooke), Patrick, Molly (Rob), Peter (Bridgitt), Katherine, Nathan and her eight great grandchildren and one due in June. Also surviving are her godson, George Kruggel and special niece Judy Mosterd.

She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Minnie Rutz, grandson Bennett Ross and granddaughter Sarah Scheffler.

Rest in peace, Adeline. You will always be remembered and loved by your family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 269-556-9450.
