David's Obituary
David Lee Martin, Sr., 67, of Benton Harbor passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, Michigan. He was born May 9, 1954 in Benton Harbor to Lexi W. Martin and Etta (Rickert) Roderick. David served his country in the Civil Air Patrol in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He also served as the former commander of Berrien County’s Disabled Veterans. David worked in construction for many years. He was known to enjoy a cold beer with his friends and family. David also liked spending time and visiting with his grandsons, David and Jack and watching Western movies.
He is preceded in death by his parents – Lexi and Etta Martin and his son – Todd Michael Smith.
David is survived by his children – David Lee (Nancy Davis) Martin Jr. and Daniel (Britny Bakos) Smith both of Benton Harbor; grandsons – David Lee Martin, III and Jack Daniels Martin; significant other -Rebecca Smith of Benton Harbor; and siblings – Kenneth Martin of Florida, Jeanette Greathouse of Tennessee, and Buster Martin.
Wake will be held Monday, October 18, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Peace Temple at 686 Territorial Road, Benton Harbor, Michigan 49022. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 P.M. will follow at the church.
