Leonarda's Obituary
Leonarda Bernice (Podgorny) Niles, 93, of Lawrence, passed away Monday, July 12, 2021 at American House in Holland, Michigan. She was born July 19, 1927 in Covert, Michigan to Frank and Bernice (Kmicek) Podgorny. Leonarda worked as the office manager for GTE Phone company for 30 years before her retirement. She married Richard Niles on October 12, 1946 and they shared 60 years of marriage before his passing. Leonarda loved to travel with Richard and they would regularly visit Florida, Arizona, and Hawaii. She enjoyed reading and golfing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her children – Lucius and Lonny Niles, and her siblings – Chester, Sylvester, and Virginia.
Leonarda is survived by her son – Larry (Stacy) Niles; daughters-in-law – Cindy and Glori Niles; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. Leonarda will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland at 270 Hoover Boulevard, Holland, MI 49423 in Leonarda’s honor.
