Maggie's Obituary

Maggie Burns, 80 of South Haven, went home to the Lord on Friday, July 2, 2021. Born, October 12, 1940, in Gould Arkansas to Willie and Johnnie Burns, she moved to Hot Springs AK at a young age.

A Memorial Service for Maggie will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at The Filbrandt Funeral Home, 1076 South Bailey Ave, South Haven, Michigan. Pastor Knox will officiate.

Maggie graduated from High School in Gould Arkansas. Maggie was a member of Mt. Calvary Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor E.L. Deroen. She held various jobs throughout the years, but her best position was mom. Maggie was everybody’s  mom, often described as a firecracker, she was strong willed and opinionated but also very loving, sweet and kind. Maggie was a great mom, friend, and sister, who will be truly missed.

Maggie is survived by her daughter Margaret “Ann” (Eugene) Thurmand, and sisters; Eula L. Foster, Dorothy Singleton, Florence Davis, Linda Burns (Jay), Birdie (Joe) Sorrells and brother Freddie (Shirley) Burns. Also survived by grandchildren; Derek Howard Jr., Clairece Brown, April Ashley, Lionel Ashley and Mildred Ashley, daughter in law Marie Ashley and her lifelong great friend Wayne Harr, who was always there for Maggie and her family.

Preceded in death by her parents Willie (Johnnie) Burns, son Jimmy Ashley, and 5 brothers and nephew Wallace Burns.
