Luke Burel Burnett, 60, of South Haven, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born May 6, 1961 to Burel and Shirley Burnett, Jr. in Benton Harbor. Luke worked as a Slots Technician at Four Winds Casino in Dowagiac. He also worked as an X-Ray Technician for area hospitals over the last thirty years. Luke enjoyed studying history, taking Sunday drives, cooking, and watching movies.

He is survived by his partner – Mike Vermerris of Grand Rapids; children – Scott Burnett of Saint Joseph, Michigan and Adam (Brennigan) Burnett of Holland, Michigan; parents – Burel and Shirley Burnett, Jr. of Benton Harbor, Michigan; granddaughter – Isla Burnett; siblings – Todd (Kathy) Burnett of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Hank Burnett of Benton Harbor, Michigan, and Lesa Marie (Phil) Ashton of Benton Harbor, Michigan; nieces – Abigail Ashton and Kaitlyn Allen; and nephew – Tyler Burnett.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Douglas Congregational UCC, 56 Wall Street, Douglas, MI 49406. A reception will follow at Isabel's Market & Eatery, 310 Blue Star Highway, Douglas, Michigan. A celebration of life will also be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 17, 2021 at the Saint Bernard Church, 555 E. Delaware, Benton Harbor, MI 49022.  There will be a graveside service at Calvary cemetery, then back to the church for a reception.   A gathering will follow later at DANK, 2651 Pipestone Road, Sodus, Michigan.
