Norma's Obituary

 

Norma Lorraine Cobb was born Saturday, January 3, 1920, at the family home on LeGrange Street to Purl and Joy (Gang) Cobb.  She joined older brother Vincent.  Little brother, Purl Junior and baby sister Carol followed.

In September 1941, she married her high school sweetheart, Albert Leins.  Al was training in South Carolina in preparation for serving in WWII.  Norma went to South Carolina for a visit and on the way home, they married in Bryan, Ohio.  He passed in 1983 after 42 married years together.

Norma started attending the First Baptist Church at 8 years old and is still a member.  She and Al were archers.  Norma won many trophies at competitions, using bows and arrows Al and his father made.  She worked for MI Gas Utilities until 1985, when she retired to travel with her siblings, spend time with precious friends and serving in the hospital coffee shop for 18 years.

She was the last Cobb family member of her generation.  Her son Craig and granddaughter Carrie preceded her in death.

Surviving are her son Doug (Ellen) Leins, daughter-in-law Phyllis (Jeff) Poorman, grandchildren, Wendy (Joe) DenBesten, Darren (Rachel) Leins, Tara (Vince) Duncan,  Alex (Jesica) Brown.  Great grandchildren, Emma, Evan, Zander, Jonah, Beckett, Bryce.  Many beloved nieces and nephews and special friends, Bonnie Wortman, Anne Dissette Long, Lorraine Nielsen and Susan Seitz.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a future date. Contributions may be made in Norma’s memory to We Care, I.N.C. Heating Fund, 06321 Blue Star Hwy, South Haven, MI 49090 (Norma’s favorite) or a charity of giver’s choice.
