Eugene D. Aldridge

Eugene DeAngelo Aldridge, 32, of Covert, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born August 29, 1988 in Ingalls Hospital in Harvey, Illinois to Annette Swarn and Eugene Aldridge Jr. Eugene was the only boy and youngest child to Annette Swarn.

When Eugene was 5 years old his mother moved him and his two sisters Latrice Swarn and Doris Swarn to Covert, MI. While in Covert, Eugene discovered his love for music and sports. Eugene devoted countless hours creating instrumentals, writing music and performing at shows in cities like Chicago and Atlanta. It was also in Covert that he met his high school sweetheart and had his first child Eugene Aldridge who passed during the third trimester and a year later his oldest daughter Anahi Aldridge.

Eugene graduated from Covert High School with the Class of 2007 and remained in Michigan for most of his life where he became a loving father to his five girls. He is survived along with his parents by his children – Anahi Aldridge, Brielle Williams, Yemoja “Yemmy” Vorva-Aldridge, Kyleah Alexander, and Indya Jones, and siblings – Latrice Swarn, Doris Swarn, Brandon Jordan, Tatiana Edwards, Keshawn Flournoy, Jae'Vianna Aldridge, Jae'Lynn Fleming, Jacatrocia Aldridge, and Gretchen Aldridge and four nieces and five nephews and several aunts and uncles. He is also survived by his 99 year old grandmother Rozener Swarn

To know Yummy was to know just how much he loved his mother and his girls and idolized his father. He was a devoted son, a caring father and a loyal friend. Always genuine, he was the same person in private as he was in public. Memories of his sense of humor, smile and silly laugh will comfort his loved ones when they think of him.

He is preceded in death by a son – Eugene Aldridge, grandmother –Doris (Dorothy) Mae Aldridge and grandfather- James Edward.

Wake will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Graveside services will follow the wake at 2:15 PM at Covert Cemetery in Covert Township.
