Daniel Joseph Moritti

Daniel Joseph Moritti, 84, of South Haven, Michigan passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 in Auburn, Indiana under hospice care. He was born August 8, 1936 to Frank and Mary (Pankiewicz) Moritti in Chicago, Illinois. Daniel grew up in Pullman and graduated from Fennville High School with the Class of 1955. After high school, Dan worked at Barensen Candy Company where he met the love of his life, Dona Tubbs. He married Dona on November 30, 1957 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Douglas, Michigan and they shared 43 years together until her passing in 2000.  Dan worked as a finishing supervisor at Everett Piano Company for 30 years. He then worked at Homecrest Cabinets in Clinton, Tennessee until his retirement in 1998. Dan was a great Papa to all and loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and watching westerns and sports on television. After moving to Tennessee, Dan enjoyed visiting Smokey Mountain National Park, Pigeon Forge as well as partaking in Dollywood Weekends with his wife. Daniel was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Dona Moritti, and sisters – Theresa Hosier and Doreen Miles.

Daniel is survived by his children – Mark Moritti of Port Charlotte, Florida and Lois (Randy) Chappell of Auburn, Indiana; grandson – Troy (Amber) Chappell; great grandchildren - Taryn Danielle Chappell and Bentley Grayson Chappell; and siblings – Joe (Mavis) Moritti of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Dave Moritti, and Madeline (Olen) Shiflett of South Haven and Marianne Orzehoski of Saugatuck, Michigan. Several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews also survive.

A visitation will take place Friday, January 29, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 P.M. at Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil Catholic Church with Father Jim Morris officiating. Dan will be laid to rest at Lake View Cemetery in South Haven. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Basil Catholic Church at 513 Monroe Boulevard, South Haven, MI 49090.
