Jimmie's Obituary

Jimmie Harrell, 33, a loving father, son, brother uncle, and friend, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was born June 12, 1987 to Charles Earl and Valerie (Maxwell) Harrell in Fremont, Michigan.  Jimmie worked as a machine operator in the Grand Rapids area.  He had a smile so bright and a presence that set the tone wherever he went.  Jimmy absolutely adored his daughters and cherished every moment he spent with them.  He loved food and cooking.  Exotic foods were his favorite.  There wasn’t a dish that he would not try.  He passed this love on to his daughters.  He was amazing with a pencil.  He could draw, write stories and music. Music and jokes were his outlet and passion.  Laughter was always the answer for him.  He laughed through his pain and would make sure anyone around him who was hurting laughed too.   He was a member of Second Baptist Church in South Haven.  During his final months, he was walking so close with God, closer than ever before.  Making changes with, and for, his family which he died trying to protect.

Jimmie is survived by his parents – Charles Earl Harrell of South Haven and Valerie (Daniel) Meeuwenberg of Freemont, Michigan; children – Mariah and Maryanna Harrell of Grand Rapids; siblings – Rikiya Harrell of Grand Rapids, Karly (David) Smith of Muskegon and Chuck Harrell of Freemont.

A Wake will be held from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven.  Funeral Services will follow at 6:00 PM with Pastor Dureya Gibson officiating.  Jimmie will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven.
