Ernest's Obituary
Ernest Mattia, Jr., 84, of South Haven (Formerly of Iron Mountain, Michigan), passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at his home surrounded by his wife of 65 years and four children.
Ernie was born July 30, 1936 in Norway, Michigan the son of Ernest Mattia, Sr. and Caroline Rochetti. He leaves behind his wife, Armine, children - Debora (Carl) Peterson of Marquette, Mary Beth (Jeff) Depue of South Haven, David (Debra) Mattia of Felch, Michigan, and Robert (Shelloy) Mattia of Melbourne, Florida; grandchildren – Kelly Robertson, Sean Mattia, Lexi Matter and Sydney Mattia; brother – Jon Mattia of Norway, Michigan; sister – Arlene Basso of Norway, Michigan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joanne Dalluge.
Ernie enjoyed making hand crafted rag rugs on his loom, hunting with his two sons and sons-in-laws at his cabin in Channing, Michigan, along with spending quality time with his family.
Private family services have been held. A celebration of life will be planned for Spring 2021 in Iron Mountain, Michigan.
