Earnestine's Obituary

Earnestine King, 89, of Grand Junction, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Graceway at Countryside Nursing Home in South Haven. She was born November 27, 1931 to Clyde and Lillie Mae (Horton) Helm in Lexington, Mississippi. Earnestine moved to Grand Junction in 1970. She married William J. King on February 25, 1972. They shared 48 years in marriage. Earnestine was a member of the Chicago Hebrew Israelite Bible Class for 45 years. She had an exceptional green thumb and loved to work in the garden.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her daughter – Corene Watters, granddaughter – LaTonya Watters, and grandson – Jeffery Watters.

Earnestine is survived by her husband – William J. King of Grand Junction, Michigan; aunt – Christine Horton; grandchildren – Bryan (Nancy) Watters of Michigan, Roland (Sandra) Harrell of Ohio, Yolanda Harrell-Fenton of Illinois, Tara (Arthour) Walls of Illinois, LaDonna (Tyrone) King of Wisconsin, Kimberly King of Illinois, Hosea King of Wisconsin, and Christopher Miller (King) of Wisconsin. A host of great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends also survive.

Wake will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will follow the wake at 11:00 AM with Speaker Caneal Rule officiating. Earnestine will be laid to rest at Lee Township Cemetery.
