Paula's Obituary

Paula Jean Chambers, 78, of South Haven, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at her daughter, Tina’s home, under hospice care.  She was born June 26, 1942 to Paul and Ione Hassell in Marquette, Michigan.  Paula married Larry R. Chambers on June 10, 1961.  They shared 54 years of marriage.

Paula is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Larry Richard “Little Larry”, brother Terry, and sister, Christine.

Paula is survived by her children – Tina Dell of South Haven, Gina Hindman of St. Louis, Missouri, and Matthew Chambers of Vicksburg, along with her brother, Ronald Paul of Marquette, and her three grandchildren and greatest joy, Rosey Simanton of Denver, Colorado, Kirsten Hindman of Philadelphia, PA, and Austin Hindman, of Tempe, Arizona.

Paula spent over 20 years as a supervisor for the Van Buren County Sheltered Workshop in Bangor, Michigan.   She worked with the clients, helping and guiding them through completing various jobs for companies in the area.   She loved her job and the joy the clients brought to her life.

Paula had many interests.  She loved to fish for perch and almost always, caught the first fish of the day.  She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed knitting and crocheting beautiful blankets for friends and family.  She had a green thumb and loved to garden and plant flowers.  She could dance up a storm and had a beautiful singing voice.  She was raised Catholic but always looked forward to attending the Sunday service at The First Baptist Church in South Haven with her daughter, Tina, and son in law, Kenny.

Paula always put her family first.  She was an amazing mother and grandmother.  She led by example and always guided with so much love and patience.  She was a partner to her husband, a kind, selfless, quiet woman who had the most amazing inner-strength.  She was an incredibly beautiful person who always looked for the good in people.  She was loved immensely and will be missed greatly.

Services will be scheduled at a later date.  Kindly share your thoughts and memories on the family’s online guestbook.
