Judith's Obituary
Judith Rae Cooley, 71, of Grand Junction, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born April 22, 1949 to Milton and Jessie (Paul) Barkel in Holland, Michigan. Judith married Duane “Dewey” Cooley on December 21, 1974 in Holland. They shared 46 years in marriage. Judith worked as a registered nurse for many years at Martin Luther Nursing Home, Grace of Douglas, Meadow Woods and the South Haven Community Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved being a grandmother. She was a talented seamstress and also enjoyed crocheting.
She is preceded in death by her parents – Milton Barkel and Jessie Barkel; step-mother – Joanne Barkel; sister – Nancy.
Judith is survived by her husband – Duane “Dewey” Cooley of Grand Junction; children – Toby (Kathleen) Cooley of South Haven and Sara Cooley of Grand Junction; grandchildren – Aiden and Bentley; siblings – David (Lynn) Barkel, Duane Barkel, Warren (Terry) Barkel, Linda (Jerry) Goresch; step-sister – Jan (Duane) Hargevoort.
