Gerda's Obituary
Gerda E. Beccue, 94, of South Haven, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was born October 10, 1926 to August and Frieda (Hopp) Pintzke in Treblin, Germany. Gerda graduated from high school and went on to work as a seamstress and in sales at Enchanted Cottage in South Bend, Indiana. Gerda was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in South Haven. She had a love for knitting and started the South Haven Knitting Group in the community.
She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband – Heinz Simon, second husband – Charles Beccue, and sisters – Elizabeth Okenmeyer and Ann Engler.
Gerda is survived by her children – Karl (Marcia) Simon of Dawsonville, Georgia and Kitty Beccue of South Haven, Michigan; grandchildren – Gregory Simon, Karla Simon Martin, Julie Simon Brooks and Joseph Land; and great grandchildren – Clayton and Kristen Simon, Ansley Maddox, Jacob Martin, and Bailey and William Brooks.
A memorial service will take place on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in South Haven with Pastor Stephen Daley officiating. Gerda will be laid to rest at Lake View Cemetery in South Haven, Michigan.
