Marjorie's Obituary

Marjorie Frances Belokin, nee McCracken, 83, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020. Marjorie was born September 15, 1937 in Cobourg, Northumberland County Ontario to Willet and Frances (Drumm) McCracken. She married Robert Belokin in Tucson, AZ in 1957 and they began their family. She died peacefully, gratefully, and pain free, attended to by her daughter and beloved cat.

She will be remembered as a strong, hardworking, and independent woman who loved her family deeply both here in the States and in Canada. In later years, she enjoyed her friends and family, was very proud of her daughters and grandchildren, traveled a bit and gambled happily at the occasional casino or bingo game. She was an avid reader of mysteries, loved a good antique store, was a (former) appreciative drinker of bourbon and red wine, and a committed watcher of game shows in later years. She always made the weather channel a must to worry over family in their various locations for weather conditions.

Dealing with COPD was hard on her and she hated being ‘tied down’ to this disease, both literally and figuratively speaking. Having lived in Canada, Arizona, and Illinois, she was grateful for the last 10 years here in beautiful South Haven, Michigan, being close to family and making new friends. Most notably, she was grateful for the staff at River Ridge and Caring Circle for their care and support.

Marjorie is proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Belokin; brothers Teddy and Paul McCracken.

Marjorie is survived by her children Rosalie (Mark Walter) Plechaty of South Haven, and Sandra (Richard) Hill of New Orleans, LA; Grandchildren Katy (Desi) Alejos in Oak Park, IL; Colin (Nicole Nelson) Plechaty of West Barton, VT; Kendall and Mackenzie Hill of New Orleans, LA; Great grandchildren Felix, Ruby and Silas Alejos; Sister Marylee (John) Rossiter of Owen Sound, Ontario and brother Phil (Pauline) McCracken of Brantford, Ontario. Cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to list, were cherished and are especially remembered.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. A small memorial will follow at 1:00 P.M.  at the funeral home with Deacon John Lohrstorfer officiating. A graveside service at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions would be welcomed in Marge’s honor to Caring Circle, Lakeland/Spectrum Health, South Haven, MI.
