Naxie's Obituary

Naxie Earline Holland-Bradley returned to her heavenly Father and home November 3, 2020.

Naxie Holland-Bradley was born in Gary, Indiana April 13, 1939 to Kenneth and Laura (Foster) Holland. In 1940 the family moved to South Haven, Michigan where Naxie spent her childhood and graduated from South Haven High School in 1958.

After high school Naxie moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, attended cosmetology school, and was employed at various jobs during this time. (1958-1987).

In 1971 she gained employment as an instructional aide at The University of Pittsburgh Elementary Lab School. During this time, she attended the school of general studies at the University of Pittsburgh. She graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education and a major in administration of justice.

In 1987 after graduation, Naxie returned to South Haven and was blessed to secure employment at Covert Elementary School as a kindergarten teacher.

Naxie enjoyed sixteen years of teaching at Covert Public Schools. She retired in 2004.

After retirement, she spent several years as a caregiver for ill family members. She always made time to study the Bible. She also enjoyed reading, working at her church, and spending time with her lady friends, girlfriends (Ida Sledge and Susie Whitmore), and family.

She had a special family she called “My Kids” of Covert, Michigan. The Dawson family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Laura Holland, sister Jeanette Harkey, and brother Kenneth C. Holland.

She leaves behind the following family members to always remember the good times, to always trust in God, and to love others as yourself. Husband, Charles Bradley of Grand Junction, MI, Nephew, Gregg Howard of Grand Rapids, MI, great niece, Hannah Olivia Oostdyk-Howard of Rockford, MI, niece Laura Holland, and great nephew Josiah of Beltsville, MD, nephew Gregory (Valencia) Holland of Odenton, MD, great nephews Christopher and Dion; cousin Chauncey Harrison of Dowagiac, MI; Virginia Beach, Virginia cousins, Stacye (Michael) Blue, Rashaad (Nicole) Blue, Laila and Faith Blue, Kamron Blue, Jazmynne Blue; and Shannon (Dean) Harris of Charlotte, North Carolina, her Cartersville, Virginia cousins, the Miller family, and other family members and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Naxie's memory to We Care INC, 06321 Blue Star Highway, South Haven, Michigan 49090 or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan,  222 N. Kalamazoo Mall #100, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007.
