Sandra Weinert

Sandra Lee Weinert, 76, of South Haven, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020 at her home under hospice care following a two-and-a-half-year long battle with cancer. She was born February 13, 1944 to Kenneth and Minnie (Days) Stick in Michigan City, Indiana and was raised in New Buffalo, Michigan. In her youth, Sandra enjoyed drag racing, a hobby which her daughter has taken up. Sandra graduated from New Buffalo High School with in 1963 where she was crowned Miss New Buffalo that year. Sandra went on to attend Beauty College in Benton Harbor, Michigan.  She married James Weinert on October 12, 1968 in New Buffalo, Michigan.

Sandra worked many jobs throughout her life, but was mainly a devoted stay at home mom, wife, and grandmother. Sandra was “Mom” to her children’s friends and known as “The Baker”, for her culinary and baking skills especially for her Christmas cookies and goodies.

Sandy’s passion was riding her motorcycle and mopeds with her husband. She enjoyed sight seeing along country roads, playing games, crocheting, and working outside in her yard.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother – Danny Stick.

Sandra is survived by her husband of 52 years – James Weinert; children – James (Hope Wisneski) Weinert of South Haven and Kristi (Christopher) Doss of Allegan; grandchildren – Alexander (Heather) Weinert of Centreville, Michigan, Kendra, Nicole, and Tristan Weinert all of Grand Junction, Jeremy Dorris, Ariella Newman, and Tyson Williams all of Allegan, Jamie and Johnnie Doss both of Hartford; greatgrandchild – Elias Dorris of Allegan; sister-in-law – Lorraine Stick of Michigan City, Indiana.

Memorial services and a celebration of Sandra’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sandra’s memory to her family.
