Sally's Obituary

 

Sally Lou Clayton, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went to sleep with the Lord on Friday, September 25, at Bronson Hospital in South Haven. Sally was born January 8, 1958 in Paw Paw, Michigan to Mary Rose (Lang) and Leonard Burns.  She married Mark Clayton on Feb. 12, 1977 in Coloma.  She worked at Kay Erikson Green Houses for a number of years.  She was also a volunteer fire fighter for the Covert Fire Department for 15 years.  Most recently, Sally worked at the Covert Historical Museum.  Sally loved to sew and feed her hummingbirds. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially Mark, Sarah and the grandchildren. She was a member of the Hartford Seventh Day Adventist Church. 

 

She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Lee Allen Clayton who died in 1989.  Also by twin siblings, Robin and Ronald Burns, father-in-law, John Clayton, sister Mary Clayton and step-brother, Bobby Allerman.

 

Sally is survived by her husband, Mark Clayton.  Daughter, Sarah (Michael) Clayton-Freislinger of Bangor.  Grand children – Brandon, Madison, Addison, Hannah and Makayla.  Siblings – Robert (Loretta) Burns of Paw Paw, Nellie Cheek of Battle Creek, Albert Burns of Battle Creek, Alice (Virgil) Cook of Hartford and Raymond (Sharon) Burns of Watervliet and Betty (Wayne) Wells of Indiana.  Step siblings – Kenneth (Diane) Allerman, Monica Searles and Karen (Terry) Pasley.  Her mother-in-law, Marilyn Clayton of Covert. A host of brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews as well as close friends. 

 

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven, MI.  Funeral services will take place Wednesday, September 30, at 11:00 AM at the Hartford Seventh Day Adventist Church, (57825 Pinery Road, Hartford, MI 49057).  Sally will be laid to rest at Fish Cemetery in Covert, Michigan.  Memorial contributions can be made to the church or West Michigan Cancer Center, (200 N. Park St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007).
